A clear, succinct, and uncluttered source of information on the treatment of tropical diseases is sorely needed. Treatment should be considered in the widest sense, covering the total management of the patient and not just specific chemotherapeutic agents. Such an approach, including also "social problems of the therapy and management of the sick individual and the related community," has been attempted in this book. On the whole the editors achieve this goal, although their projected coverage of the "social problem" aspect, which I believe is a sop to current fashion, has been almost completely disregarded.
