Acute myocardial infarction is a tricky disease. Complications are many and varied and tend to arise suddenly. As is often the case when no single mode of treatment has clearly proved superior, there often seems to be little to choose from among the numerous therapeutic alternatives. Dr. White has written a concise manual outlining a practical approach to treatment of the early stage of infarction. It will surely be welcomed by the increasing number of physicians and nurses who, without the benefit of extensive specialty training, care for infarct patients in the specialized setting of a coronary care unit.
