A reprint of E. C. Kelly's editions (1939, 1946) of Adams's 1849 translation (GM14); the lack in this edition of Adams's footnotes and an adequate exegesis of the Hippocratic canon will sharply limit its value for most modern readers who are not acquainted with classical Greek medicine. Nevertheless the publishers have provided a new edition that will meet the needs of libraries for a clean, useful, and relatively inexpensive copy.
