The scope of the seventh edition, compared to that of earlier ones, has been expanded to include descriptions of definitive care. Thus the authors hope to provide in a single volume a reference source for advanced first-aid workers, hospital emergency room personnel, doctors' offices, and military installations about care of civilian and military emergencies. In a sense this edition represents an expansion from "what to do 'til the doctor comes" to "what to do 'til the specialist arrives."
