Stroke victims are a large segment of the population in our chronic-care hospitals, nursing homes, and rehabilitation centers. Although rehabilitation programs vary from center to center, certain methods are almost universally accepted. These are the basic ingredients of a stroke rehabilitation program, and they are covered in considerable detail in this book. There are chapters on early care, range of motion exercises, wheelchair activities, and ambulation. The section on self-care activities includes information about commercially available assistance devices.
