In the short preface to this impressive volume on the pathology and pathophysiology of the stomach and esophagus the editors express the hope that this book will also be given the cordial reception that has been accorded to the other tomes of this continuing series of "special pathology" surveys. The editors need not have worried. There must be few workers in the field of gastroenterology who would not want to own Dr. Wanke's encyclopedic contribution, but, I fear, there will be only few who will be able to afford it!
