Multiple factors combine to make the emergency room a highly sensitive area in the delivery of health care. Its role has been complicated by increased use. The demand for quality control in medical care and the litigation that stems from lapses of such control have risen sharply. The problems encountered involve all fields of medicine, and the physician staff is often relatively inexperienced. There is a perennial need for a good, compact reference text on this area of medicine.
This second edition of Emergency Room Care, edited by Charles Eckert, impresses me as a very successful effort to fill this
