For my review, it is tempting to quote the "Foreword" of this book, by Emanuel Friedman, in its entirety because my enthusiasm for it parallels that of the consulting editor. It is clearly and concisely written, covers all appropriate subjects in adequate depth, and reflects sound clinical judgment and careful selection of scientific data by the author. The physiology of the thyroid and its hormones, the laboratory testing thereof, and the relation of both to mother and fetus are well described. Thyroid pathology as it applies to the pregnant woman, fetus, and neonate and the necessary specialized treatment are given
