To the editor: It is generally acknowledged that the medical care of older human beings in this country leaves much to be desired; the area of geriatric medicine is, to a large extent, a very neglected area of medical training. Actually, geriatric medicine provides an excellent environment for the in-depth study of human disease and for the training of physicians and allied medical personnel.
