One of the many things that the field of substance abuse does not need is another "how to" book, especially if the book doesn't tell "how." This book is meant to be all things to all people—parents, users, teachers—and falls short of satisfying any one group's needs. I do not recommend this guide to physicians. About its only value to the treating physician is a chapter on "proper foods and tempting menus that really work" (dust jacket blurb); the physician need not wade through the morass of anecdotal material if proper nutrition is his primary concern and interest.
