Both of these books are designed as references for laymen. The Pills in Your Life describes the most frequently used outpatient medications, with primary emphasis on those drugs available by prescription only. Without Prescription is intended as a guide for nonphysicians in choosing over-the-counter drugs for adults.
Dr. Halberstam's book is organized into 25 chapters, each dealing with a particular therapeutic effect, such as pain relievers and weight control pills.
