In September 1970 scientists, physicians, and educators were convened in Geneva by the Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences to discuss, besides the training of medical research workers indicated in the round table's title, the brain drain of medical scientists: the proceedings have now been published (1). Underlying assumptions were that the training should be improved and that the drain should be reduced. By the end of the conference, the participants had adopted no resolutions, nor formulated any conclusion, but they had had some interesting discussions.
