Clinical neurology deals with a wide array of complex disorders about which much is known, in terms of clinical and pathological description. Those who write textbooks of neurology intended for medical students must compromise between the urge to tell all they know and the need to be brief and simple. In the tradition we have come to expect of British physicians, Professors Matthews and Miller have succeeded in distilling into this readable monograph the essential features of neurological disease without losing the garnish of descriptive detail to enliven it.
