Most of our attention has recently been focused on the consideration that cerebral seizures have a focal onset. Dr. Niedermeyer has taken on the difficult task of attacking present thinking about generalized nonfocal epilepsies. This terminology includes petit mal, grand mal, centrencephalic, secondary bilateral synchrony, Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, and posttraumatic seizures without a focus.
