There is so much alleged progress in so many areas of medical and paramedical investigation that one's first reaction to still another "progess" book is to flinch. Nevertheless this will be a desirable book for many people, one that is generally readable and scholarly, as the editor in his preface says he has intended it to be. Since hemotasis is a subject that encompasses "a broad field of interacting disciplines," the various topics range from protein chemistry to clinical hematology to biophysics to cellular physiology and pharmacology.
