Universities, professional societies, teaching hospitals, foundations, pharmaceutical manufacturers, governmental agencies, and other groups recognize the need for continuing education among practitioners in the health professions, and they have been willing to try to meet that need. Formal short courses are offered at university medical centers and on a circuit of other institutions. Audio and video tapes and motion pictures provide excellent presentations for individuals and for small and large groups. Practitioners are reached at home and in their hospitals by FM radio and open- and closed-circuit television.
