Psychotherapy is a misleading title for this lengthy book. It is an eclectic work, written for the eclectic reader, who should have thorough grounding in his own profession before reading this comprehensive approach to the human condition. Many topics are included: animal behavior, genetics, history, physiology, communication, and law, to mention only a few. However, the subject dealt with at greatest length is sexuality.
Dr. Holmes's purpose is to introduce novel ways of thinking about human behavior that he considers appropriate for our changing culture. Throughout, he depreciates the more commonly accepted psychiatric and psychoanalytic terminology, theory, and practice. The
