Old hopes that the United Nations might bring us all closer to international peace still exist but are withering. The UN increasingly becomes a weapon for political revenge rather than a vehicle for the advances of all men into a safer world. Fifteen million Taiwanese are thrown out while postage-stamp-sized sovereignities remain to join in further mischief. Attempts to control air piracy through the UN are blocked by those countries, and their sympathizers, that covertly seek revenge and political leverage from the murders committed by their fringe fanatics.
