Our purpose is to provide a cost effectiveness analysis of the psychotropic drugs; the clinical indications and side effects of the psychotropic drugs, which will be useful to the general physician; and a review of therapeutics, presented in the context of what is known about the clinical pharmacology of psychotropic drugs. The therapeutic efficacy of the antipsychotic agents chlorpromazine and butaperazine is viewed as it relates to the levels of these compounds in the blood. Chloropromazine levels were measured by gas chromatographic method with an electron captor detector and butaperazine levels, by a fluorometric method. Drug interactions are emphasized. Interactions
