Having a text largely in German by German, Swedish, and Swiss radiation therapists diminishes the value of this monograph for many American readers. The chapters in German include precancerous lesions, skin, eye, nose, salivary glands, esophagus, stomach, small bowel and colon, rectum, pancreas, liver, and gallbladder and ducts. Only two contributions are in English, those on the oral cavity and lip.
The editors stress that they cannot be "exhaustive" in their coverage, but the presentations of the subjects included in Part 1 of this encyclopedia are more detailed than the usual general radiation therapy textbook. The chapter on skin is
