In the preface the importance of nutrition is emphasized, with some accent on its magnitude and scope, and the neglect of nutrition in modern teaching is pointed out. The book is logically divided in four sections:  "Normal Nutrition," including the body, food sources of nutriments, physiology, metabolism, and requirements;  "Primary Nutritional Disorders," including undernutrition and overnutrition;  "Secondary Nutritional Disorders," including systemic disorders and nutrition and other conditions; and  "Nutrition In The Community," including assessment of nutritional status and food and nutriment supply.
