Textbooks of cytopathology are not very numerous, and this one is a paragon of simplicity, clarity, and excellence. It is not and does not pretend to be other than an atlas and text for the beginning cytotechnician, pathology resident, and others interested in looking at stained cells. The format—to explain details of alterations from normal by examining a slide by low power, by high power, and then by a black and white, well-described, and clearly labeled diagram—is excellent. Little space is taken to explain theory or reasons for change, and it must be understood that the text has been written
