The impact of this textbook will be particularly evident in the training of residents and students in radiology. Teaching radiation biology to students of the health sciences has been fragmented and often unrewarding because of the lack of authoritative guidelines. Instructors have been forced to develop their own "core" of basic medical radiation biology from a variety of sources, often emphasizing their own research interest and leaving both instructors and students with doubts about whether the subject was adequately covered.
The editors are to be commended for compiling this multiauthored first edition, although, as would be expected from a book
