A detailed compilation, from contemporary Chinese sources, of descriptions of acupuncture points, with supplemental illustrations of their locations. Chapter 3
lists the diseases and symptoms that are believed to be amenable to acupuncture therapy: malaria, hypertension, hepatitis, hemiplegia, schizophrenia, goiter. Chapter 4 describes acupuncture anesthesia. The introduction summarizes current American interest in this subject, discusses the legal status of acupuncture in this country, and comments briefly on some scientific hypotheses that may account for acupuncture effects. A concise and authoritative summary that includes indexes of acupuncture points, by Chinese names, and of diseases and symptoms.
