As President of the American College of Physicians, it is my responsibility to keep the membership of the College informed about the status of recertification in the broad field of internal medicine.
For the past several years the Board of Regents of the American College of Physicians has given this matter its careful attention. After the adoption of a policy on recertification by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) in 1969 and the appointment of a committee on recertification by the ABIM, the Board of Regents in 1970 appointed an ad hoc liaison committee to work closely with the
