The author's prefatory note begins, "This book is addressed to biologists who use biometrical methods as a tool." We are told elsewhere that this is not another cookbook, but "it is concerned with the underlying idea with how to choose the right method for the right question . . . ." Certainly, this is a useful approach, particularly for the experimentalist who works with biological material. Therefore, it is unfortunate that this book is not particularly successful.
