Increased attention to the personality of the patient has led to expanded course offerings, in medical schools, dealing with the examination of psychological style and function. Aside from the material offered in psychiatry courses, students need the opportunity to master the mental status examination in the context of the more general examination of children and adults. As part of early clinical training at the Indiana University School of Medicine, where Dr. Roeske and her colleagues teach, second year students take a 28 hour course on the examination of the personality, and this book supplements audiovisual materials and patient interviews presented
