Methods of measuring the regulation of cardiac output and the factors affecting it have been intensively studied over the past three decades. The development of cardiac catheterization techniques and increasingly more sophisticated methods for measuring flow have provided new information concerning flow patterns in both man and the experimental animal. This book provides an excellent review of the state of the art of measuring and interpreting changes in cardiac output.
In this second edition by Dr. Guyton and his co-workers, the different methods for measuring cardiac output are carefully reviewed. There is a critical analysis of the advantages and disadvantages
