This quite expensive paperbound work contains much detailed and practically useful information. It is written mainly in concise notes that are sometimes telegraphic in style and occasionally epigrammatic, as (p. 79), "More people die every year of—unrecognized—water deficiency in sickbeds than in deserts or on the high seas." There are some very useful tables. The whole is a comprehensive catalogue of the causes, effects, and therapy of excesses and deficiencies of water, sodium, and potassium and of disturbances of acid base metabolism.
