In March 1971, a group of eminent cardiologists gathered in Los Angeles to conduct an American College of Cardiology course, "New Perspectives in Treatment of Myocardial Infarctions." The proceedings of this symposium have been edited by Drs. Corday and Swan and published between fuchsia-colored covers that belie their scholarly contents.
Unfortunately, much of that which was new and promising in the diagnosis and treatment of myocardial infarction in March 1971 is already standard in late 1973 (for example, flow-directed catheters that are so prominent in cardiology literature and current coronary-care unit practice). The book, therefore, will have limited appeal to
