The Royal Postgraduate Medical School includes a course in hematology and blood transfusion as part of its yearly course in clinical pathology. This book was written to complement and supplement the lectures given on theoretical and clinical aspects of hematology.
The 21 chapters are individually authored and cover a wide variety of subjects. Eight chapters deal with erythropoiesis and anemia; three with blood group serology; seven with leukocytes, hematologic malignancy, and related subjects; and three with hemostasis and thrombosis.
As a hematologist, I find this book generally elementary. The occasional, unexpected statements are not supported by data or references. Specific
