The wide ranging content of the third revised edition of this comprehensive book, Psychiatrie im Grundriss, that might best be translated as "Foundation of Psychiatry," makes it a valuable addition to psychiatric texts.
It is divided into four main sections preceded by a general introductory chapter in which the methods of psychiatric examination, as well as psychological testing, are described. Awareness, intelligence, personality, perception, thinking, feeling, will, and ambitions are dealt with succinctly. Pathological phenomena such as hallucination, compulsive thinking, thought disturbances, psychotic perceptions, and ideation systems are expertly discussed.
