The author has undertaken a mighty labor of analysis and synthesis and has produced a valuable source of information on the polyneuropathies. His thesis is that the individual neuropathies can be identified from the clinical history and physical examination of the patient. Drawing on 750 personally observed cases of neuropathy and about 4500 cases from the literature, the author amply substantiates this idea.
The first part of the book takes up in turn such clinical manifestations as paresthesias, muscle atrophy, and cranial nerve dysfunction, with a discussion of the role of each symptom in each of the neuropathies. Here, in
