Based on the personal experience of these authors and members of the French Academy of Surgery, reoperations (early and late) are required in 8% of gastrointestinal operations.
The pathophysiological indications and surgical technique involved in reoperative intervention are well organized, and according to the organ involved. Separate chapters are devoted to the abdominal wall, esophagus, stomach and duodenum, biliary tract, pancreas, small bowel, and colon.
The management of specific problems encountered with each organ is covered in detail when necessary and provides the clinician with hard, factual information for each situation.
