This book is primarily for orthopedists, as it focuses on selected aspects of the design and function of the musculoskeletal system and integrates engineering technology with biology and physiology. The first part deals with biological matters such as stress, strain, matter, and materials' properties. The second part deals primarily with biological aspects of orthopedic mechanics, much of which is evidently new and previously unavailable information. The third and final part is a series of appendixes that review some of the elementary mathematics, physics, and mechanics required in the solution of simple biomechanical problems. Contains author and subject indexes.
