A new, thoroughly modern, very generously illustrated textbook on cell and tissue structure. The first 15 chapters describe and illustrate details of cells by cell type and tissue system; the remainder take up the organ systems. Emphasis is on electronmicrographic presentation, and many of the low-power views are electronmicrographic, rather than photomicrographic, because the author's view of histology is that it should provide the basis for understanding structure in relation to "life processes" rather than a background for reading routine slides.
