It is becoming increasingly obvious that current research into the physiology of sleep is generating a myriad of findings of considerable import to the basic neuroscientist as well as the clinician. This series of papers on sleep covers topics of interest to both parties. The range of subject matter areas covered is, unfortunately, quite limited, but the promise of future volumes to some extent mitigates this disappointment. Approximately three fourths of this volume is given to highly esoteric reviews on the neurophysiology and neuroanatomy of sleep.
