To the editor: Clindamycin-associated colitis has been reported recently with some frequency. To the present time there have been 56 cases of clindamycin colitis reported in the medical literature, 19 in the Dallas area (1, 1). There are other unpublished reports that describe approximately another 60 patients, 40 in the Dallas area. Four of these patients have been seen at Parkland Memorial Hospital in the past 12 months. As of November 1973 there were 99 cases of this syndrome on record with the manufacturer.
The incidence as reported by the manufacturer is 1 in 50 000 to 1 in 100
