Among the many books, symposia, and lengthy articles on hypertensive disease published in the past few years, Dr. Milton Mendlowitz's book is unique. Dr. Mendlowitz has valiantly attempted to cover the vast field in 100 pages, suggesting that this commits the author to giving one a version of the problem from the point of view of one investigator, exposed to the "work and opinions of many others" and thus the author will avoid emphasizing any one particular bias. The 100 pages Dr. Mendlowitz has written are followed by 854 references, and in effect what Dr. Mendlowitz has ended up with
