In order to cover the disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, including anal region, the liver, and parasites in a book of this size, the author had to limit the amount of detail he could supply. Thus the subspecialist or internist looking for fine points, even about common disorders such as gall bladder disease, may be disappointed. He will, however, find a broad coverage that includes discussion of the uncommon disorders such as Wilson's disease, or the Peutz-Jeghers syndrome.
Some explanations in terms of pathophysiology are provided for symptoms, physical or laboratory findings, or treatment, but this is primarily a practical
