The metabolism, pathophysiology, and clinical applications of parenteral nutrition are fully described in this monograph. While it completely describes clinical applications, it also serves as a reference with a complete bibliography on all aspects related to parenteral nutrition in acute illnesses. The chapters on pediatric physiology, pathophysiology, and clinical uses are particularly good for the reader who is not an expert in this field. While the quality of individual chapters varies somewhat with the author, on the whole it is of a high level.
