Despite prevalent uses of gastric secretory tests in many general hospitals as well as private clinics, no comprehensive book or monograph on them has been available in recent years.
Dr. Connell critically reviews gastric function tests, both for secretory and emptying function, that have been used in the past and present. He describes detailed methods for each test and the pitfalls in performing the tests that can be pointed out only by a person, such as this author, who has had vast experience in gastrointestinal laboratories of a large leading hospital.
