A review of the second edition of this textbook offers the opportunity for
many favorable comments and comparatively few negative criticisms. Altogether, it represents a very sensible
attempt to encompass much of the presently accepted information needed for the clinical practice in the field
of chest diseases, with judicious exclusion of purely experimental and controversial subjects. Its 1076 pages
of text are presented in a very attractive format and large type; the color plates on lung morphology are
excellent, although many of the x-ray reproductions are of suboptimal quality. References at the end of each
chapter are pertinent and allow
