One picks up a new book on nail diseases with the hope that it will really provide an answer to the innumerable questions that the nails bring up in clinical medicine. One would hope that this would be particularly true in the book with the title, Nail Diseases in Internal Medicine. Finger and toe nails contain accurate though not infallible clues to various forms of disease and themselves may harbor lesions and processes which give absolute diagnostic answers or clues on a high order of probability.
