Published initially in 1966 by the International Union Against Cancer as a guideline for cancer detection programs, this monograph has been updated in its statistical content and in its review of the newer technologies available for earlier detection and case finding. The first half of the publication is a brief review of biological (immunologic) tests for cancer, followed by an almost cookbook-style exposition of the steps and techniques commonly accepted as the best approach to detecting occult cancer in 10 different organ systems.
