Forty-four authors have collaborated in preparing the 27 chapters of this text. As one might expect with this number of contributors, overlap in discussion occurs, and the emphasis and scope of chapters vary. Currently used noninvasive diagnostic methods such as cardiac auscultation, phonocardiography, apex cardiography, arterial and venous wave forms, systolic time intervals, and transcutaneous Doppler study of arterial and venous flow are included. Electrocardiography is covered in five specific areas—computer analysis, exercise testing, ambulatory monitoring of arrhythmias, his bundle analysis, and electrical pacing. An important and frequently used noninvasive method, cardiac roentgenology, is not included.
Only selected invasive procedures
