In 1974 the editors of this journal read, and made decisions on, 1299 manuscripts. At the writing of this note, the number for 1975 was expected to come to 1560. These totals do not reflect fully the task of selecting what is to be published. The papers that have to be considered run a range of complexity and scope in content from immunologic studies of neoplastic cells to armchair reflections on the physical examination.
