To the editor: My attention has recently been called to the review of my book, An Atlas of the Blood and Bone Marrow, 2nd edition, (Ann Intern Med 82:440-441, 1975) by Dr. Anthony V. Pisciotta. He mentions its 562 pages as compared with the 321 pages in the first edition. He attributes this to a smaller page size and the addition of four new chapters by contributing authorities, not noticing the altered margins and typography and the popular "bleeding" of illustrations, which virtually compensate for the reduction to a more convenient shelf-size.
Most damning is Dr. Pisciotta's statement, "Despite the
