As its title implies, the objective of this book is to transmit information on the fundamentals of psychiatric thought and practice to nonpsychiatric physicians in clinical practice. On the whole, the book achieves its stated goals. It provides a comprehensive review of basic psychological theory, including a description of the main psychiatric syndromes and their treatment. The book's strongest aspect is its selective emphasis on the interface between psychiatry and general medical practice.
