In keeping with the pace of double-digit inflation in the United States, the third edition of Infection Control in the Hospital costs 62% more than the second edition (1970). The revised manual is worth the higher price. The stated goal of this publication is to be "a handy desk reference from which the hospital worker on the job can readily obtain the information he needs" on control of hospital-acquired infections. The book recognizes its limitations and states that some sections may be inadequate for specialists seeking extensive advice; to this end, a good bibliography is available to provide any detail
